چکیده
A major challenge in process improvement is to understand process innovation and improvement efficiency and use. How do we know that process innovations and improvements give organizational benefits? We need a mechanism for measuring. In this paper, we report from a longitudinal action research study at the telecom company Ericsson where a measurement mechanism was designed and successfully used in practice to understand, learn, and measure process efficiency. In the concrete, the measurement mechanism was built through empirical testing combined with using a goal—question—metrics (GQM) approach. The resulting measurement mechanism consists of four correlated metrics that indicate process use, process commitment, process learning, and process improvement. The same measurement mechanism can also be used to obtain feedback and evaluation, thereby allowing the organiPlease use the following format when citing this chapter: Borjesson, A., Baaz, A., Pries-Heje, J., and Timmeras, M., 2007, in IFIP International Federation for Information Processing, Volume 235, Organizational Dynamics of Technology-Based Innovation: Diversifying the Research Agenda, eds. متن کاملInnovation as emergence in healthcare: unpacking change from within.
The contemporary healthcare literature suffers from a disproportionate focus on 'given' externally created innovations, and belief in ordered, planned and well-funded implementation processes. As an alternative, the present paper highlights the potential of emergent change processes, using the continuous invention and re-invention of the Rheumatology Quality Registry in Sweden as an example. Th...
متن کاملOutsourcing Failures That Hamper Service Innovation - a Case Study Using the Service Blueprinting Method
The key objective of this paper is to identify and analyse critical failure points that may prevent potential innovations introduced by an outsourcing service provider. The paper applies the service blueprinting method as a tool for systematic description and analysis of an industrial outsourcing process. The main benefit of the service blueprinting technique is that it makes the service provis...
متن کاملIncreasing Process Improvement through Internet-based eBusiness Innovations
This research proposes and empirically tests a model of post adoption process improvements realized through use of partners’ Internet-based e-business applications. We identify constructs proposed within adoption and post-adoption use theoretical models as well as presented in existing inter-organizational systems research. Our analysis reveals purely organization-based factors; namely, informa...
